Project SEARCH provides young adults who have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP), aged 18-24, who have autism or learning difficulties with the opportunity to complete a series of work rotations within Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

The project enables young adults to gain valuable experience and competitive job skills in order to make successful transitions towards equitable employment. Being fully immersed in the workplace allows interns to feel like part of the workforce ensuring their experience of both work and learning is realistic and meaningful.

What support is available?

Interns are supported on-site by a job coach and tutor, who are based in the hospital all the time. Their role is to foster independence and confidence, enabling the interns to learn their tasks and to complete them to the same standard as everyone else.
